The Nottingham Vipers Div 1 team came up against a well established Sheffield team in Ice Sheffield on Sunday 9th November. With many players still new to hockey, this was always going to be a tough game.
Despite getting several breakaways of their own, Vipers failed to score and conceded 13 goals, as well as being out-shot by 57 shots to 20. A poor first period meant the Vipers were facing an uphill struggle to get anything out of the game after shipping six goals, but a invigorated work rate in period two kept Sheffield to three goals. Tired legs and minds began to creep in in period three as Sheffield scored a further four goals.
A first season in any league is always tough, and this year is proving to be no exception for the Div 1 Vipers as they continue to find their feet on the ice.
